Desert Silo

Desert Silo is a custom software firm. He is a software engineer who does work for a handful of small to medium sized clients in the valley, but wanted a logo and some branding for his independent business.

It was obvious to myself and the client from the beginning that we should incorporate elements to suggest the nature of his business, software development, with elements that would make it an obvious part of his brand as well. This manifested in using brackets, and using a terminal-style typeface.

Colors

The client and I picked out some colors we thought might work best for his brand. Based in Phoenix, we chose colors based off the landscape of the valley.

Shapes

Next, we decided the main subject of the brand would be a cactus, representing the “desert” of Desert Silo. The cactus had many iterations, which included both color and shape. Here are a few that made the first cut.

Continuing iteration on all of these things together gave us a few options to choose from.

Finally, altering many tweaks, the client decided on a design in three color variations; multicolor, dark, and light.
